create an iPhone app.
This would be super useful if there were an iPhone app were I could review my to-drink list, see recommendations, reviews, etc.

We have plans for an iPhone app of some kind as well as other mobile context ideas. They are at the top of the list!

allow users to say what beer they are drinking "right now"
It would be neat to allow users to tell the site what beer they are drinking "right now" and their friends can see. Similiar to twitter in "What are you doing?" it would become "What are you drinking right now?"

UPDATE: We’re not 100% how this would be useful in context of the whole. We’re going to need more info and to think about this more. In the meantime, we’re going to be working on a mobile interface and come back to this once that is done. The mobile interface should take care of some of what this might be about.
We’re looking into this. There have been several ideas related to this, all interesting. Obviously the whole mobile question is something we’ve been noodling from the start as has some kind of twitter integration.

include flickr photos of beers using tags?
Not sure about privacy or copyright of flickr images, but
1. suck in photos from flickr of specific beers on that beer page
2. suck in photos you've taken on your profile page
3. start a pool in flickr for those on 97bottles.46 votesplanned ·

We’ve been talking about this and do expect some kind of flickr photo integration at some point. It might be a little while, but this is a good idea!

allow users to upload photos of the beer
It would be nice to see the labels of the bottles so we can look out for particular beers in the bottle shop.
Allow users to upload photos of the beer they're reviewing.

Most likely this would be done with some sort of flickr integration, but we’ll discuss it.

beer finder
iphone app, mobile app, and/or general service that enables me as a bar patron to report back to the 97B community which beers are at a given bar. then, other users can look up, by beer, which locations are serving their favorite frosty bevs.

Good/fun idea with lots of implications we’d need to consider.

Beer drinkers near you
I know that we're an online community, and I like having similar tastes to those all over the map. However, I think it'd be keen to be able to find similar beer drinkers within your city.

This should be doable and seems like a good idea. We’ll consider it.

Add 'Drank It' Flagging of non-favorites
Particularly as a new user I'm browsing around the site for beers more then I'm reviewing [just yet]. There are many beers that I have had that might want to review down the road that may not be favorites, and for the time being I just want to queue them up so they don't get lost.
I'd feel bad flagging them as a "favorite" just so they're easier to find later.
Down the road it might also be an interesting data point to grab metrics from - ubiquity ratings, drank vs. favorite, etc.

This is an idea we’ve talked about and just aren’t sure how best to implement. We’ll keep it in mind.

Add Homebrewers' Area
Many of my favorite beers are those I or my friends have brewed. It would be great to be able to rate kits / recipes here alongside our other favorites.

show what beers you have in common with friends
See what beers you have in common. On a review page, put friends' reviews first in the queue so you don't have to scroll down searching to see if anyone you know reviewed it.

thumb up and down reviews
This (could) put the best reviews up top, but there could be tabbed versions of reviews (sort by date, thumbed up, thumbed-down, etc.)
Could be optioned as follows:
Amazon style: "This review helped me / This review doesn't help"
Forum style: "This review is funny / This review sucks"15 votes -

There is something very problematic with this. Much of our content is community created. Meaning if you add a brewery or beer other users have data (reviews, etc) that are linked to that content.
We’re working on a way to make it so you can delete personal information, but leave the content intact. As well, we’re working on making it so you can delete your reviews if you wish.
We will figure this out, we’re not not sure of the best way now. If you’re reading this and you want your account information deleted, it’s best just to email info @ 97bottles.com directly and we’ll do it manually.

more complete or more generic vessel list w/reference fotos.
The vessel list has some specific kinds of glasses used for beers, but not others. Either add them, or reduce list to more generics, e.g. glass/stone cup, plastic cup, bottle. If list is enlarged, would be nice to have a link on the site somewhere which displayed photos of the different kinds of glasses with their names for reference. I know there's a bunch of different glasses for different beers, but don't know the names of them all.

Search By Categories
I would really like to be able to search/filter beers by all categories (IBU, color, etc.)

Add rel="me" to Elsewhere/Links
Thanks for adding the hCards (and the internal XFN). Now all you need to do is add rel="me" to external links and 97 Bottles will take its place in the social web ecosystem.

Implement got/want functionality to facilitate trades.
Beeradvocate has a great implementation of this.
