There is something very problematic with this. Much of our content is community created. Meaning if you add a brewery or beer other users have data (reviews, etc) that are linked to that content.
We’re working on a way to make it so you can delete personal information, but leave the content intact. As well, we’re working on making it so you can delete your reviews if you wish.
We will figure this out, we’re not not sure of the best way now. If you’re reading this and you want your account information deleted, it’s best just to email info @ 97bottles.com directly and we’ll do it manually.
I've already gotten a flurry of emails from friend requests, confirmation emails, etc. It'd be great to disable different types of alerts. A daily activity digest (à la Flickr) could be a nice option, too.3 votes
Yes, we need to do this and will look into it.
I know that we're an online community, and I like having similar tastes to those all over the map. However, I think it'd be keen to be able to find similar beer drinkers within your city.31 votes
This should be doable and seems like a good idea. We’ll consider it.
Not sure about privacy or copyright of flickr images, but
1. suck in photos from flickr of specific beers on that beer page
2. suck in photos you've taken on your profile page
3. start a pool in flickr for those on 97bottles.46 votes
We’ve been talking about this and do expect some kind of flickr photo integration at some point. It might be a little while, but this is a good idea!
When adding a beer to 97bottles, you ask what the color of the beer is, but that information doesn't seem to be used anywhere on the site. It also makes sense to eventually add the ability to search by color for the end user.4 votes
This is being used, in a subtle manner on the beer detail page. The color of the glass changes depending on the color of the beer. Maybe this should be more obvious, we’ll look into that. Also, I’m pretty sure we’ll add search/browse by color at some point – good suggestion!
Aside from promoting brand, this might help users confirm they're "in the right place."1 vote
It would be nice to see an extra column when viewing a list of beers, and in that column is MY ranking.
This would be especially helpful when looking at my favorites. That list is sorted by and showing the overall rankings. It makes a lot more sense to be able to see that list sorted by MY rankings.1 vote
It would be great if after I review a beer, the name and it's rating could get posted automatically to other social media sites. Some are easier than others, but facebook and twitter would be my top two. Additional bonus would be the ability to control the text that gets blasted out to these services via the "edit account" page.1 vote
Thanks for adding the hCards (and the internal XFN). Now all you need to do is add rel="me" to external links and 97 Bottles will take its place in the social web ecosystem.9 votes
Currently the top breweries can gain that spot with one good review on one beer. Perhaps this needs to be adjusted to allow breweries with decent ratings on many beers to rise above those with only 1 very good review.2 votes
Add the possibility to create a widget with the list of our favorite beers, our reviews,...
We’ve got the API going and one of the first things we’re going to do with it is work on a widget. So this should be coming relatively soon.
The image of the tulip glass is wrong. It's more of a Pokal glass like for a Doppelbock or other beautiful lager.
A classic Tulip glass is the Duvel glass.
I would really like to be able to search/filter beers by all categories (IBU, color, etc.)10 votes
